Golden Pin Design Award 2015 Promo Reel
JL DESIGN was overall in-charge of the direction and design of last year’s Golden Pin Design Award ceremony. From program to stage design, we had a fresh approach to the Chinese design award show. Hosted by Taiwanese-American TV presenter Janet Hsieh, and Taiwanese entrepreneur and taste-maker Chu Ping, it also featured celebrated Taiwanese dancer and choreographer Huang Yi, performing Huang Yi & KUKA - 1st & 2nd Movements, a duet that involved an industrial robotic arm. The exciting line-up that created many firsts, not only took the Golden Pin Design Award ceremony to a new height, it also gave recognition to the impact and importance of Chinese design. The concept for the visual identity and show package is about going back to where it all began. "點" (the Chinese word for Pin) meaning dot or a point, not only illustrates a design element but also translates to starting point of the ideas. The new Golden Pin Design Award logo was created in collaboration with renowned Taiwanese calligrapher, Tong Yang-Tze. The calligraphy strokes reinterpreted in a modern graphic design style produced a refreshingly new visual for the Chinese logo design. The opening video for the award ceremony seek to showcase different types of design work and their respective working environments. Creative ideas are imagined and animated as golden pins popping up in the different work spaces, to remind us that creativity are constant and timeless.
